Help us create belonging

Multicultural Australia works to create pathways to belonging and enrich communities where all feel welcome, valued and safe. We are dedicated to supporting newly arrived individuals and families from refugee, migrant and international student backgrounds to settle in Queensland.

If you have excellent cultural awareness, communication and interpersonal skills, and are interested in working with people from culturally diverse backgrounds, volunteering in community and social support might be for you.

We are located in Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Rockhampton, Townsville and Toowoomba. We also offer opportunities in Inala and Zillmere.

Welcome and Connect Program - Welcome Ambassadors | Brisbane City | Weekly

Our Welcome and Connect Program offered as part of Multicultural Australia’s Humanitarian Settlement Program aims to create a warm and welcoming experience to newly arrived refugees by supporting them as they settle into the community. The Welcome and Connect Program extends on our settlement orientation activities by providing practical assistance and support so that our clients can independently navigate their local area, facilities and services.

We are seeking volunteers to work directly with our clients to provide connection and welcome. Our clients look to our Welcome and Connect Volunteers for insight into local culture, and the facilities and services in their immediate area.

Arabic and Rohingya Language Support Volunteer - Women’s Wellness Group | Zillmere | Once a Month

We are looking for Arabic and Rohingya speakers to provide language support to adult migrants and refugees attending our Zillmere Women’s World Wellness Group.  Volunteers play an important role in creating welcome, inclusion and belonging.

Multicultural Australia, together with the Zillmere Community Centre, run a monthly women’s group that provides a safe space for women to connect, receive information on wellbeing topics, and network. The group aims to give women an opportunity to grow and share their skills and knowledge – empowering themselves and building capacity. The group meets monthly, on the last Wednesday of each month (during school terms) at Zillmere Community Centre.
