Multicultural Australia is supporting the Australian National Maritime Museum in facilitating the next round of names to recognise on their National Monument to Migration.
About the National Monument to Migration:
The Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM), Australia’s museum of the sea, collects and shares all aspects of Australian national maritime history, including stories of migration across the seas.
The Governor General elevated the status of the Welcome Wall to Australia’s National Monument to Migration on Harmony Day, 21 March 2021. There are currently 30,000 names from 129 countries on Australia’s National Monument to Migration. The Museum has collected and treasures the story of every person on the monument and considers that they, collectively, provide a wonderful insight into an important dimension of our national identity at this point in our history.
The National Monument to Migration acknowledges and recognises migrant journeys. Migrants who help shape our nation and whose stories collectively speak to who we are as a nation. The Monument is a celebration of multicultural Australia.

About the Opportunity:
ANMM with Multicultural Australia is offering 10 places on the National Monument to Migration (each opportunity is valued at $500). This name could be your name, or your family’s name – and will contribute to the fabric of multiculturalism represented on the monument.
If selected, the name of your choice will be placed on the monument for their next unveiling ceremony due to take place on Sunday, 20 March at the Australian National Maritime Museum, 2 Murray St, Darling Harbour Sydney NSW (time TBC).
This is an incredibly important opportunity – and one that will see successful applicants have their nominated name on an important monument in Australia dedicated to representing migration and multiculturalism.
As part of this process, you will also have the opportunity to tell your migration story – and have this story captured and shared by the Australian National Maritime Museum.
How to Apply:
We encourage you to submit your Expression of Interest (EOI) form using the digital form here. EOI’s must be submitted by Monday the 13th December 2021 in order to be considered. Successful applicants will be notified prior to Christmas and will need to complete the attached inscription entry form and supply their contact details including: name, address, telephone and email address.
Please note that if your EOI is accepted, the travel costs to attend the unveiling ceremony in Sydney will need to be met by you.
