We hear a lot about refugees and asylum seekers, but we don’t often hear from the people themselves.

In My Country is a podcast sharing the stories of six Aussies who came to Australia as refugees or people seeking asylum.  Stories of identity, religion, sexuality, the arts, parenting, culture, fashion, meaning, purpose, and the many places we call home.

Premiering at REIMAGINE is a special panel discussion with In My Country, featuring four of the guests from the podcast.  Join host Pia Perversi-Burchall, and guests Alyas Taqawi, Liliana Maria, Marcela Cornejo and Tenzin Choegyal as they discuss changing the conversation about what it means to be a refugee.  Stay to the end for a musical performance from the magical Tenzin Choegyal.

In My Country’s episode featuring Alyas has been shortlisted for Best Interview at the 2020 Australian Podcast Awards.

The In My Country panel premieres on YouTube and Facebook at 7pm on 11 November. Subscribe to our YouTube channel for notifications or set a watch reminder on the video below.
