To celebrate International Women’s Day, Multicultural Australia and the Sit Down Comedy Club are banding together to host Stand Up for Women, a fundraiser showcasing some of Queensland’s best comics!
With a hilarious all-female line-up featuring Ting Lim, Lily Mitchell, Fiona McGary, Georgina Humphries, Rachael Hornbuckle, Kat Davidson, Nan Chen and Thereze Miburo, it’s an event you won’t want to miss.
Proceeds support new Queenslanders from refugee and migrant backgrounds.

Ting Lim
Singaporean-born Ting Lim is a stand up comedian, writer and actor of Chinese heritage based in Australia. Her dry sarcastic observations have endeared her to audiences since she represented QLD in the prestigious Melbourne International RAW comedy competition. Since then, she has toured sold-out comedy shows across Australia and featured on the award winning show, Fisk, and written for television.
Lily Mitchell
Join Lily as she shares her story through comedy of a visually impaired person, and life as a storyteller, film maker and sportsperson.
Georgina Humphries
Georgina is determined to put her small town of Millaa Millaa on the map and is passionate about bringing her tales of rural antics to city crowds.
Rachel Hornbuckle
Rachael is a fiery redhead who started comedy in the dark pubs of London. Fresh from an ongoing existential crisis, Rachel is a Brisbane-based comedian with a penchant for wicked japery and taking people down a notch.
Fiona McGary
Fiona’s comedy will put you at ease, loosen you up, draw you expectantly close and then throw you back in your seat with laughter! With a standup comedy career spanning twenty years, Fiona has performed across Australia and internationally on TV, radio and International comedy festivals.
Kat Davidson
With a career spanning 24 years, seeing Kat on stage is like visiting an old friend you haven’t met yet. She’s shared the stage with the world’s best comics, tamed a shed full of drunk miners, and brings a fresh and intelligent view to her comedy.
Nan Chen
Join local Brisbane legend Nan Chen as she dishes out the laughs with her unique take on comedy.
Thereze Miburo
From learning to swim as an adult to becoming a swimming teacher, raising five kids, completing her bachelor’s degree, and pursuing stand-up comedy, Thereze has a unique and fresh perspective on life that is sure to make you laugh out loud!
