Get Prepared for Cyclone Alfred

South-East Queensland has not experienced a cyclone in many years, and some community members may have never faced one in Australia. Please follow the steps below to keep you and your family safe and well, and visit this Get Ready Queensland CT Alfred page for the latest updates and key contact information.

Get Ready
  1. Secure your home and garden – Bring inside any loose items like furniture, toys, or tools.
  2. Prepare an emergency kit – Have enough food, water, medications, and first aid supplies for at least three days.
  3. Stay inside during the storm – Your home is the safest place. Keep away from windows and shelter in a small room (e.g., bathroom or hallway).
  4. Be ready to evacuate if necessary – If emergency services direct you to leave, do so quickly and tell someone where you are going. If possible, try to pre-arrange an alternative safe place to stay (with family or friends)
  5. Know emergency contacts – Call 000 for life-threatening emergencies or 132 500 for SES assistance.
