Join our team of Multicultural Australia Welcome Ambassadors!
Our Welcome Ambassadors (volunteers) play a significant role in welcoming and supporting newly arrived individuals and families from refugee, asylum seeker and migrant backgrounds as well as international students. By becoming a Welcome Ambassador you’ll be making a difference in someone else’s life as well as your own.
Multicultural Australia strives to develop communities in multiple ways and our Welcome Ambassadors are offered opportunities to engage in a wide range of activities and projects including:
- job preparation skills such as resume writing
- teaching English
- community and women’s group activities such as arts, crafts and health education
- practical support such as transporting clients to appointments
- mentoring clients
- assistance with Multicultural Australia events
Making a difference to someone's life and yours too
Multicultural Australia exists to shape a better future for all – a welcome, inclusive, globally connected, and economically strong community. As a Welcome Ambassador, you will be rewarded with an enriching experience as well as a strong sense of community and friendship.
As a Welcome Ambassador with Multicultural Australia, you will:
- build your professional network
- gain work experience in a reputable organisation
- support others to build independence and confidence as they start their new life in Australia
- build friendships with like-minded people
- gain satisfaction of helping others and sharing your skills
- receive professional or program specific training
You may even get a chance to engage in our highly regarded Cultural Competency training and receive a certificate for this participation.
After you have been a Welcome Ambassador for a period of three months you can also request your Multicultural Australia Volunteer Leader to be a referee.
General Volunteering Next Steps
Whether you are able to volunteer regularly, or only every now and again for a few hours, we would love to hear from you. The volunteer program operates from our Brisbane, Toowoomba, Rockhampton and Townsville offices and also offers opportunities to join the activities associated with our locations in Inala, Redbank Plains and Logan
In order to become a Welcome Ambassador, we invite you to complete the online application form here.
After completing the form, you will receive a call from our team to discuss your application, invite you to undertake an interview and complete a criminal history check (depending on the role for which you are volunteering). Successful applicants will be matched to a volunteering opportunity based on skills, interests and availability.
Please note that to volunteer with Multicultural Australia you must be 18 years of age or over.
