The Finance team leads and coordinates the organisation’s statutory and management reporting obligations through financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, analysis and internal control systems and processes. We support Executive Management, Senior Management, Programs and the organisation by adding value in key strategic decision-making and in keeping fit for the future. 

The Management Accountant is responsible for assisting executive leadership and other management teams by providing accounting, analysis, planning and reporting support. The role has responsibility for providing information to the Senior Management Accountant on business decisions including management accounts, budgets, forecasts, tenders, sensitive analysis and appraisal of new business opportunities. The Management Accountant will work closely with Multicultural Australia staff, not only to provide useful and relevant information regarding finance and accounting procedures but also to explore with the Senior Management Accountant, how the finance function can provide improved support to program operations

What you can expect from this role:

  1. Provide support to develop and mentor graduate accountants in the team.
  2. Prepare tender and grant applications and new business activities ensuring business models are accurate, flexible and user friendly.
  3. Provide business support to Executive and Senior Leadership, ensuring queries are answered appropriately in their respective programs.
  4. Support the Senior Management Accountant and the wider finance team, working collaboratively to deliver performance objectives.
  5. Develop skills to understand the business and be the subject matter expert for front-line programs.
  6. Preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and long-range plans.
  7. Prepare and attend monthly management accounting meetings with program managers.
  8. Assist accurate and timely delivery of programs’ monthly management reports.
  9. Review accuracy of financial transactions and financial reports monthly and assist in year-end audit process.
  10. Prepare and review submission of financial acquittals for grant programs.
  11. System administration for technology one ERP and ongoing process improvement of XLOne reporting capacity. Assist the transition to technology one cloud and other system improvements.
  12. Development of advanced Excel modelling and reporting.
  13. Any other duties, as required.

In addition to the duties listed above all Multicultural Australia staff are expected to:

  5. Carry out general administrative functions related to their role and to the effective and efficient functioning of Multicultural Australia as a whole. This will include the use of computer-based calendar and information management systems.

Induction training relating to policy and procedures, workplace health and safety and Multicultural Australia administrative systems will be provided to successful candidates on appointment. Additional training in relation to IT systems and software will also be provided to successful candidates.

What we need from you:

  1. Relevant management accounting experience.
  2. Advanced skills in the use of Excel, Word and other Microsoft software products.
  3. High level written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  4. Excellent attention to detail and strong delivery of quality results within defined timelines.
  5. Strong initiative, focus and ability to work autonomously whilst working as part of a team.
  6. CPA or CA qualified or actively working towards obtaining.
  7. Relevant degree qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business.
  8. Valid Queensland Driver’s License.
  9. National Police Clearance Check.
  10. Experience using Technology One would be advantageous but not essential.
