The LUMINOUS Retrospective will showcase highlights from the LUMINOUS Lantern Parade over the last decade from 2011.

LUMINOUS began as a Candlelight Walk for Refugees on World Refugee Day in 2007, with a handful of people in solidarity with the millions of displaced people around the world who walk for basic survival.

It was public gesture of support and welcome from everyday Queenslanders and our refugee communities.

In 2010 it became known as the World Refugee Day Candlelight Walk and Lantern Parade.

In 2014, the event became known as the LUMINOUS Lantern Parade to welcome new Queenslanders and became part of a suite of events each year to commemorate Queensland Week.

In 2019, over 38,000 people registered for the LUMINOUS Lantern Parade.  Unfortunately this year due to COVID-19 we were unable to gather in person.  Instead, people across Brisbane are invited to continue the spirit of welcome with LUMINOUS in the Neighbourhood.

Even though we can't gather together, you can enjoy this spectacular vision of LUMINOUS through the years until we can meet again in person for the next LUMINOUS Lantern Parade.

This year you can take part in LUMINOUS in the Neighbourhood, find out how.

A big thank you to LightnUp Inc who has provided many of the amazing lanterns for the LUMINOUS Lantern Parade over the years.

The LUMINOUS Retrospective will premiere on YouTube and Facebook at 7pm on Friday 13 November. Subscribe to receive notifications or set a watch reminder through the video below.
