What you can expect from this role:

  • Overall responsibility for the maintenance and utilisation of the HR management system including supervision of staff responsible for HR data entry and management in relation to recruitment, on-boarding, staff changes, probity, and report preparation. 
  • Oversight of the Multicultural Australia Reception functions including supervision of Reception team members. 
  • Development and implementation of employment contracts, position descriptions, and reclassifications in accordance with relevant awards and legislation.
  • Provision of advice and appropriate levels of support to Managers and staff regarding (but not limited to)
    • the implementation of HR policies, procedures and the Multicultural Australia Enterprise Agreement.
    • working within specific timeframes towards resolution of HR issues in consultation with Multicultural Australia Leadership Team where required
  •  Lead the recruitment of talent including all end to end recruitment            activities from the development of position descriptions, to the oversight of the selection processes. 
  • Lead the induction process in conjunction with the HR Graduate.
  • Maintenance and coordination of Multicultural Australia’s student placement program ensuring sustainable and positive relationships with education providers and other external stakeholders.
  • Ensure Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is in place and utilised across all MA’s offices.
  • Overall responsibility for 
    • the maintenance and management of the GO1 online training platform
    • implantation and review of induction and human resource related training for managers and staff and deliver as required.
  • Management of the day to day WHS functions.
  • Manage Multicultural Australia’s Workers Compensation and Return to Work process:
    • Action, organise and facilitate Multicultural Australia’s Safety Committee Meetings and   
    • Agenda including first aid and fire safety.

What do we need from you:

  1. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a human resource generalist role.
  2. Possession of tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management or Business Management with a focus on HR.
  3. Substantial practical experience in complex employee relations and investigation processes, preferably in a human services or similar environment.
  4. Sound understanding of the Australian industrial relations system and the ability to interpret EBA, award and other industrial instruments.
  5. Dynamic relationship-building skills and ability to confidently engage with internal and external stakeholders; ability to communicate effectively with people from a wide range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  6. Highly developed skills in meeting deadlines with competing priorities and ability to pivot to support changing priorities.
  7. Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of end to end employee lifecycle, policies, strategies and procedures that support compliance and quality improvement.
  8. Creative leadership approaches in supporting your team to balance quality client-centred support with corporate support specifications. 
  9. Strategic and effective collaboration skills to work with different leaders and teams.
  10. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft suite and experience working with databases to deliver high quality professional documents.
  11. National Police Clearance Check.
